I am a 40-something feminist housewife and mother, with two elementary school aged boys and a husband who works ridiculous hours.  We live in the New Jersey suburbs west of New York City, about 12 miles from the great island of Manhattan.  I love to garden, read, and paint, but spend most of my time taking care of the kids, cooking, cleaning, shopping, and seemingly driving around and around in circles.  I hope that by sharing my gardening experiences, both good and bad, I might encourage others to start a garden and find joy in it.

What a fabulous blog! I love it. And THE mulberry tree….. Can we send you gardining questions? For example, I am wondering why my lily of the valley didn’t bloom this year?

Thanks for the feedback! I’m not sure why your lily of the valley didn’t bloom, but we had some wacky weather in the early spring/late winter. For example, if I remember correctly, there was a heat wave in early March, which I think may have contributed to the problem My lilac didn’t bloom at all this yea eitherr, and I chalked it up to that.
